2024-11-28 - Back to Basics

1. Functional Enlightenment is a way to feel in love all the time, without exogenous cause.

2. Functional Enlightenment is achieved by training for Entheogenic Fitness.

3. Entheogenic Fitness has three aspects, or Components.

  • Antifragility
  • Executive Function
  • Gnosis

4. These Components are developed by engaging with EFT Elements, which are various forms of physical training, psychological concepts, and imaginal practices based in the mythos of a role-playing game called Phonomancer.

5. You play Phonomancer to develop your unique version of its titular Shamanic Superhero, who demonstrates that a life of purpose and meaning can be based on courage, discipline, compassion, killer karaoke skills, and a profound ability to tear up the dance floor.

6. This development takes place in a paracosm, which is to say, a detailed world of make-believe. You can think of it as a fictional universe where people can gather to have shared experiences.

7. In the Phonomancer paracosm, these are shared experiences of the Sacred, in which each individual pursues a relationship with the Divine as they understand it while supporting the efforts of those around them.

8. When its paracosm serves to amplify experiences for all participants, Phonomancer functions as a religion, which is to say, a game of make-believe that yields real-world transformation.

9. In Phonomancer, this transformation does not come cheap. Engaging with the Elements of Entheogenic Fitness Training can be wildly fun, but also occasionally grueling and even terrifying.

10. It's worth it. If you make-believe long and hard enough under challenging conditions, your reality will change. You will develop new abilities and capacities. You will realize your evolving vision of your Highest Self. You will become Phonomancer.

11. Phonomancer is simultaneously the realization of your highest individual potential and an expression of the universal force of Christos.

  • The Christos is the Self-sacrificing aspect of KA, the Divine Child of the Godhead.

12. You act as Phonomancer first in the context of psychedelic rituals designed to test and develop your Antifragility, Executive Function, and Gnosis, and then, over time, and with increasing skill, in the context of every day life.

  • It's a matter of writing yourself a role: the person you want to be. Then rehearsing that role. Then playing that role out in the world.
  • In any given situation, you ask yourself, "How would the best possible version of me respond? Who do I want to be?" Then conduct yourself accordingly.
  • Afterward, assess what happened, how you could do better. (You can always do better.) Run through your ideal response. The next time such a situation arises--and it's inevitable that you'll see a repeat, because tultimately every situation can be boiled down to an archetype, and there are a large but delimited number of archetypes--you'll be better rehearsed and thus give a better performance.
  • This is true both in ceremonies and in real life.
    • It takes awhile before you can ask yourself that question in the group psychedelic ceremonies that are Phonomancer's proving ground; initially, all you're doing is trying to stay on-task and survive.
    • But as your mastery grows, so too does your ability to relax and enjoy.
13. When Phonomancer is no longer a role you are playing, but the unshakeable foundation of your identity and source of your personal power, you are Functionally Enlightened.

14. Functional Enlightenment is sustained by maintaining a supreme level of Entheogenic Fitness.

15. You can always get fitter :D

A New Way to Use Psychedelics

I want to tell you about my approach to working with psychedelics, because I think I'm breaking new ground. If you or someone you know is working along similar lines, get in touch. I want to talk with you. For now, at least, I'm calling this approach "phonomancy," meaning "divination via sound." If you're a recreational user, it likely won't appeal to you. If you're someone who's dipping your toe in the psychedelic water via microdosing, or someone who is primarily interested in using psychedelics to treat trauma, depression, or addiction issues, you might find the practice I'm going to describe off-putting or even alarming. That's because phonomancy is not therapeutic--it's augmentative. It's a program for developing supranormal emotional and spiritual capacities via psychological hormesis. Some risk, pain, and fear are part of the process. But that's the price of transformation. THE ORIGINAL TWO "S...

The Sacred Marriage of Mary and Jesus - Script for a Phonomantic Rite

Chapter One: When You Were Young, You Were the King of Carrot Flowers Yeshua ben Elisheva is eighteen years-old.  He is the doted-on child of Joseph, a carpenter, and his wife Elizabeth. They are nearly 60 years old and call Yeshua—better known to us as Jesus the Christ—their “miracle baby,” because he arrived in their lives long after they’d given up hope of having a child to love. Jesus works in his father’s carpentry shop. He is developing a reputation for the beautiful designs he paints on all the tables, chairs, and oaken chests he builds. During his off-hours he likes to wander in the desert searching for minerals like hematite, limonite, and lazurite, which he uses to make his pigments. One day he comes across a plant that is unknown to him. It draws his eye because it has flowers of an orange so brilliant, they seem to glow. These flowers also smell good. Being the curious sort, Jesus eats a petal to see how it tastes. It has an appealing tang, and it doesn’t upset h...

Book Review: Where Some Holy Spectacle Lies as a Post-Jungian Manual of Mastery

Book Review: Where Some Holy Spectacle Lies as a Post-Jungian Manual of Mastery Read alongside C. G. Jung’s Liber Novus , Where Some Holy Spectacle Lies can be understood as both a parallel and a critique. Like Jung’s Red Book, it records a sustained, high-risk confrontation with the Unconscious over roughly a decade. Unlike Jung, however, Manseau does not stop at dialogue, interpretation, or symbolic accommodation. He proceeds toward methodological mastery . Jung’s achievement in Liber Novus was to survive his descent and to extract from it a symbolic vocabulary that could later be systematized as analytical psychology. But Jung famously refused to provide techniques for inducing similar encounters in others. His confrontation remained singular, dangerous, and fundamentally unrepeatable. Manseau’s project begins where Jung stopped. Across ten years, Where Some Holy Spectacle Lies documents the progressive refinement of a praxis that moves through distinct stages: visionar...
